Singer-songwriter Lawrence Brown Jr., known as LBJ, was born to Larry and Helen Brown. He is the second oldest of four siblings, born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, and now a resident of Phoenix, Arizona. He started singing at the age of five with his brother and cousin at family functions and later performed in numerous shows throughout middle and high school.
Music has always been prevalent in his family, with several relatives making an impact in the industry. His first cousin, Alonzo "Scooter" Powell, played drums for Patti Austin, jazz artist Norman Brown, and James Ingram for 16 years before succumbing to cancer in 2022. Another cousin currently serves as the music director and bass player for pop icon Justin Bieber. He got his big break by co-writing the hit song "Peaches" for Justin and has since written for Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Big Sean, and Latin artist Anitta.
LBJ has performed extensively in the Phoenix area, with one of his proudest moments being in 2003, when he and his cousin, Steven Powell, opened for R&B recording artist Montell Jordan ("This Is How We Do It"). He has also had the honor of singing the national anthem for spring training baseball games and Phoenix Suns basketball games for many years.
Over the years, LBJ has written numerous songs and, in the past decade, transitioned fully into gospel music, returning to his roots where it all began. His mission is to make a positive impact on the world through his lyrics and faith-driven messages.
"My gift is a blessing, and I want to bless others by sharing it with the world. My goal is to write for prominent artists and leave a lasting mark on the industry."
Believe in yourself until God says it's over!!!
